New hat!!

So, it's starting to get colder here in Lubbock, particularly in the mornings when we take little Zoë to school in the morning. I was chatting with my friend Cherese over lunch one day about her knitting and I explained to her the difficulty I've had finding a suitable hat for Zoë to wear in the colder mornings. The little cotton beanies for newborns are too small, the girl's head has grown 2" since birth, and the other caps seem to be made for toddlers, which are too big. I half joking/half serious told her she should knit Zoë a hat. The next day in class, she brought in the cutest little knot cap ever! It fits her head perfect and keeps her noggin warm. I LOVE IT!!!

Houston, we have a red-head, we think...

Sorry its been a while since I've posted...school has been pretty crazy already. I should be doing homework right now, but I HAD to share this pic of Zoë. She passed out cold in daddy's lap after a feeding last week. It was so precious that I decided to take a picture. Until this pic, we really couldn't tell what color hair Zoë had. It's this ambiguous shade of neutral that baffles everybody. I'll let the picture tell the rest of the story. What do you think????
PS -Zoë is super excited about her new friends that were born this week. She sends a shout out to Anïas in New Jersey and Addison in Arizona!

Zoë's 1st Gameday

As most of you know college football season is one of Mike & I's favorite seasons, besides baseball. Yesterday was the opening game for OSU and Tech, which is another point of contention. As you all know started my illustrious college career in Stillwater at OSU, and although I attend Tech and will graduate from Tech, I am still a Cowboy fan tried and true. Some may say I bleed orange. Mike thinks this is silly since I never graduated and Zoë is caught in the middle of our "house divided". So to please the masses she wore her OSU jersey during the OSU game and her Tech onesie during the Tech game. This should be a fun season!

We're back...

So, I realized that I haven't posted in a minute. We've been super busy!! We visited Houston and had been getting ready for the start of our LAST year of our undergrad work. Houston was so much fun. It was nice seeing everybody and introducing Zoë.
We first went to go visit Zoë's Godparents, Brandon & Lindsey. It was nice to relax and hang out with them. We had dinner and they took care of the baby, and they did a good job. Zoë got to meet Brandon & Lindsey's kiddos, two adorable puppies Sadie & Sam. They were great with Zoë, especially Sam who was so in tune with her noises.

Then we got to visit with Andrea & Erin. They cooked dinner for us and we got to hang out and visit. Erin can't wait to babysit and Andrea was excited Zoë didn't scream when she held her (apparently she has that problem with babies, but she seemed fine to Mike and I).

The next day Zoë got to meet her cousins Madeline and Dakota. The girls were so sweet together and their Nana was so happy to have all of them together. She got them all matching hoodies for the photo opportunity, but they were too big, so we'll try it again over Christmas.

Finally Zoë got to meet the Marlatts. We had a great time watching Noah be a chimney sweep and Wyatt land surf. The boys were super sweet with the baby and, of course, Laura and Josh were excited to see the baby. That night we had a "grown-ups" dinner with out the kids at the Red Onion Cafe and it was YUMMY! Too bad the Crave cupcakes afterwards were not.

We had a great time, obviously. We really can't wait to see everybody over Christmas!!!

Bath time!

So, Zoë loves bath time. She can be super fussy and as soon as she hears the running water she calms down. Mike thinks this correlates to the fact that she kicks her legs and strokes her arms a lot, since he thinks she's a born swimmer. Maybe he's right, or maybe the Olympics have gotten to his head.

New sleep position

So, I've mentioned before that I love watching my daughter sleep. The past week she's started this new sleep position with one leg hooked over the blankets. This just cracks me up because I do the same thing...it's just cuter when she does it. We're also getting ready for our Houston trip. We cant wait to see everybody!

12 POUNDS!! 12 POUNDS!!!

So, I had to go to the doctor Wednesday for my 6 week postpartum check-up. Zoë has had really bad baby acne, so I was asking the PA about it and she though it was more than just typical baby acne and needed her weight to let us know how much Benadryl to give her. When we went to the doctor for Zoë's 2 week check up, she weighed 9 lbs 2 oz. At 6 weeks our child weighed 12 lbs!! Seriously. Everybody at the doctor were just like,"It's okay, she's healthy." I hope so I know she'll drop weight when she starts crawling and walking too. She doesn't feel that heavy and some of her 0-3 month clothes still are too big. That's it, thats my story I thought I share today.
PS - I didn't have a new pic to put up, so this is a pic from when Aunt Shelby was here last week. ENJOY!

Sleepy baby

For all of you that are parents, or know parents, you know that in the first few months of life, it is often difficult to get babies to sleep/stay asleep. It is no different in our household. But I look at or child while she is sleeping and it takes my breath away. For all of the frustration, lack of sleep and tears, seeing that little baby sleeping is truly a wonder and a blessing. I am so lucky to be a mom

Growth spurt

So...I think Zoë has hit her 6 week growth spurt. Besides the fact that she turned 6 weeks on Saturday, yesterday all she wanted to do was eat & she would only sleep for 15-20 minutes at a time (for maybe a total of 1-1.5 hours ALL DAY). But through all of the nursing and her crying a sweet moment happened. Petey, our first child/dog, I think has finally accepted Zoë as a member of the family. It's not that he didn't like her before, he would just smell her head and move on, she just didn't necessarily register in his world. But yesterday he was sweet and attentive with her, he even laid with her on the bed. It made the craziness of the day worth it in the end.
